Colnago V5RS Frameset

The Colnago V5Rs is the latest evolution of the V Series road bikes from the venerable brand Colnago. This bike was developed to meet the highest demands of World Tour racing with the input from riders like Tadej Pogačar.

This bike is designed for maximum speed and climbing ability, the V5Rs achieves a refined balance of lightness, aerodynamics, stiffness, and handling. With a ready-to-paint frame weight of just 685 grams, it stands as the lightest Colnago ever made, coming in 12.5 percent lighter than its predecessor without sacrificing rigidity. Using experience gained from the Y1Rs project, the V5Rs features thinner, high-performance profiles that deliver aerodynamic efficiency close to that of pure aero frames.

Aerodynamic refinement is at the core of the V5Rs design. The frontal area has been reduced by 13 percent compared to the previous model, now measuring just 250 cm². A narrower head tube minimizes drag, helping to conserve watts during high-speed efforts. A newly developed fork contributes to better steering precision and comes with 32mm tire clearance, improving grip, comfort, and speed on rougher terrain. Every element of the carbon layup has been carefully engineered with advanced lamination techniques to ensure strength, lightweight performance, and durability across demanding race conditions.

The V5Rs development process reflects Colnago's focus on innovation and real-world validation. Starting with CFD simulations to optimize airflow, prototypes are created using 3D printing for rapid testing and refinement. Wind tunnel testing with full competition setups verifies aerodynamic gains, while final validation is done by professional riders to ensure that real-world performance matches the numbers.
